Two Views: On American Values

This is a time when we are reminded of the common human­ity that we all share.

2/ Genevieve Peters, on plans to kick non-​resident stu­dents out of the Bev­erly Hills Uni­fied School District:

This is a com­mu­nity trying to take care of its own, and there is noth­ing wrong with that.

    I love this sen­tence. I mean, it says so much and with such econ­omy. Is it, in fact, poetry?

    i don’t know, i kind of sym­pa­thize with the school board. seems like a lot of people just want to avoid the los ange­les schools. like they feel like they’re enti­tled to go to bev­erly hills because they’re rich and white maybe.
