State of the Art

From the flyer for a gallery we stumbled into last night as part of Seattle’s First Thursdays Artwalk:

We prefer to create meaningful relationships by engaging in dialogue with those interested in our work. We can explore ways to assist you in acquiring our work for your home or art collection. We believe that the negotiation of cost or exchange for the work is an integral part of the relationship between artist and collector. We are looking forward to having this conversation.

I leave it to you: sweetly frank, sincerely well-meaning, horribly misguided?

That “We look forward to having this conversation” sounds almost threatening.

  3. Yeah, I think I’m with both of you on this one.
