Inauguration: Chicago Students on the Ground
In the neon afterglow of yesterday’s inaugural pomp and ceremony, I offer a modest tale: a profile by CBS national news of some Chicago high school students involved with the Mikva Challenge, a remarkable Chicago non-profit for whom my wife works. Twenty-six of these students were sponsored by Mikva to attend the inauguration, and Senator Dick Durbin provided them with some of the best seats in the house.
But rather than attempt to explain what Mikva is about myself, I direct you to the profile, where you can hear it from the mouths of the youth who make the organization thrive. If you’re interested, click here to learn more.

Just got my new Buddha Machine, word. Buddha Machine 2.0! That’s where it’s at.
So what, now that Sasha Frere-Jones is all sweet on you, you’re just going to take his word on everything? Typical. Well, enjoy the party, and when you get rich off your book deal you can maybe give some money to the Mikva Challenge.
It is true that I meant to post this comment on a different article, but it is not true that the Buddha Machine is new in my life thanks to critics who are sweet on me! I have a baby blue model from three years ago & it sings with the 2.0 like a gospel choir. I don’t remember where I first heard about the Buddhas, but it wasn’t from S/FJ. That just proves that I am in sync with vibrations that resonate beyond the strains fancy bloggers hear.
And, yes, I wholeheartedly support the Mikva Challenge, as who would not!
